The Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) is challenging the island to meet an exciting goal: enrolling 300 new participants in its flagship AnchorBDA programme by the end of 2024. This transformative initiative, part of the BTA+ learning platform, is designed to enhance the skills and service standards of Bermuda’s residents and hospitality professionals. As a special incentive, the first 300 participants to complete the programme by December 2024 will receive exclusive prizes.
A Programme Built for Bermuda, By Bermuda
AnchorBDA is the cornerstone of the BTA+ online learning management system, launched in 2023. The six-module, self-paced course, also available as facilitated group classes, offers a comprehensive curriculum developed in Bermuda and assured by the globally recognized City & Guilds. This ensures the programme aligns with international standards while addressing Bermuda-specific needs.
BTA CEO Tracy Berkeley emphasized the programme’s critical role in Bermuda’s National Tourism Plan:
“AnchorBDA satisfies a vital need for community engagement as outlined in Bermuda’s National Tourism Plan. It enhances the knowledge and professionalism of our tourism workforce while fulfilling the mandate of the Bermuda Tourism Authority Act 2014 to promote education and training for the industry.”
– Tracy Berkeley, CEO
Berkeley highlighted the dual impact of the programme:
“By investing in local talent, we strengthen Bermuda’s reputation as a premier destination and empower residents to take an active role in our tourism success. AnchorBDA is created by Bermuda, for Bermuda, which is a core aspect of its value.

Empowering Bermuda’s Workforce
AnchorBDA is offered at no cost to participants and provides in-depth training on Bermuda’s cultural history, tourism goals, customer service excellence, sustainability, and inclusion. The programme is designed to inspire confidence, offering participants a credential that reflects the highest standards in tourism and service.
“AnchorBDA is for everyone—whether you work in a visitor-facing industry, aspire to become a tourism ambassador, or are simply a new resident eager to learn more about Bermuda. We’ve set an ambitious target to enroll 300 participants by year-end and encourage the entire community to take advantage of this opportunity.”
– Tracy Berkeley, CEO
Davida O’Brien, Tourism Standards & Training Manager, who spearheaded the development of AnchorBDA, shared her enthusiasm:
“Guiding AnchorBDA from concept to launch has been a rewarding journey. This is more than a training tool—it’s a movement to educate and inspire. With nearly 100 organizations and stakeholders already engaged, we’re building incredible momentum. Now is the time for individuals, businesses, and associations to register for this complimentary programme.”
